What Helps You With Grief?
Words by Lucy Livesey - Founder of Relax With Lucy & Co and Ellie’s mum.
When we lost ellie, I remember our grief felt unbearable, Ellie died when the Manchester Arena bombing had happened and there was so much sadness around us ontop of what had just happened. Our baby Ellie passed away at under 24 weeks, following her passing it was a hard time. Some days the physical and emotional pain felt too hard to carry, but we did, because we had to figure out how to move forward.
The following things are some of things that helped us with our grief -
Taking each moment rather than each day.
Practicing being open and aware of what we were experiencing and accepting our feelings for what they were.
Reminding ourselves to care for our basic needs i.e eating, drinking fluid and showering.
Getting out for a short walk daily helped us and surrounding oourself with nature.
Talking and writing, this felt like an outlet for our feelings and even though it didnt change what had happened it felt like a release.
Gardening was a help as it somehow felt nurturing to plant things.
